MOT test certificate

MOT

If your vehicle is 3 years old or more, an MOT is required by UK law. The Ministry of Transport test is an annual safety check that the vehicle meets the minimum safety standards and exhaust emission levels set by the DVSA.

A tester accredited by the DVSA looks at the interior, the exterior, under the bonnet and underneath the vehicle. A pass produces a VT20 certificate. A fail produces a VT30 document. The result depends on the condition of the vehicle on the day. Advisory items are explained whether they passed or caused the failure.

Tests we offer

Class 4 covers everyday cars: hatchbacks, sports cars, saloons, 4x4s, smart cars, MPVs, minibuses and estates. Class 4 tests start from £40. Class 5 is for private vehicles and ambulances with 13 to 16 passenger seats. Class 7 is for goods vehicles over 3,000 kg. Each certificate matches a vehicle type, so the booking needs the right class.

Any vehicle that has reached three years of age needs a valid certificate before it can stay on the road.
